  1. I was searching for my GF's blog and came across your interesting. Came to your recent post and had to laugh a bit about your daughter's Dislikes/Likes at her six month milestones. If you think she wouldn't like getting her ears pierced, then I'd say to do it now so she won't remember. Mine were done at six months and I thanked my mom for doing it as an infant.

Why is doing it later a bit more difficult? Well Growing up I remember many of my little girlfriends were not allowed to get their ears pierced. I could never understand it...but when their parents did finally let them, it always seemed they'd get infected because they were constantly touching them or trying to change out the earrings before they were supposed too. Many said it was painful, but all cried having a great deal of angst leading up to and including the actual ear piercing.

I asked our pediatrician about infant ear piercing and she encouraged me to go ahead and have them done when mommy could care for them. She said this is a frequent question from a lot from moms. Her response was a bit surprising, but when asked what she thought...she pulled out a picture of her little 8 month baby girl with pearl studs in each ear. I was sure it was time. She recommended Piercing Pagoda and gave me some other ideas for moms having their dd's ears pierced.

I'd say if your thinking about, then your mommy intuition is telling now may be better. Unsure, then hold up a pair of your studs to her ears in front of the mirror. Warning: she'll look adorable.

Let me know if you decide to go ahead and I'll send you the rest of her great ideas to make a good experience for both of you. She may cry, but our ped says if they cry, it is because of being restrained or the noise of the piercing instrument near their ears.
